Overview

Khojmad situates readers in a world where information often travels faster than truth. The book explains how digital platforms, social networks, and online news cycles shape public opinion and everyday life in Nepal and beyond. It shows how the same tools that connect people and enable citizen journalism can also spread misinformation, confusion, and division.

The work places special emphasis on transparency, public awareness, and the responsibilities of both media producers and audiences. Rather than treating technology as purely good or bad, Khojmad invites readers to look closely at how digital media is used, who controls information, and what it means to communicate ethically in a connected society

Summary

Through clear and accessible language, Khojmad introduces the core ideas of digital literacy and media awareness for a general audience. It describes how online platforms amplify voices, support activism, and give ordinary citizens new power to participate in public debates. At the same time, it points to the pressures of constant connectivity, information overload, and emotional manipulation in the attention economy.

The book discusses topics such as citizen journalism, online conflicts, hate campaigns, and the rapid spread of false or misleading content. Each theme is connected to real-life experiences familiar to Nepali readers, including social media trends, viral news, and the challenge of verifying sources before sharing information.

Throughout the chapters, Shrestha encourages readers to slow down, cross-check facts, and reflect on their own digital habits. Khojmad argues that responsible online behavior—such as thinking critically, respecting others, and avoiding impulsive sharing—can help build a healthier information environment. The book ultimately presents a balanced view of how digital media can support either a more informed, democratic society or deeper misunderstanding, depending on how people choose to use it.
