Samir Bhatta (समीर भट्ट) is a Nepali film actor who rose to prominence for his lead roles in the Nepali films 12 Gaun and Balidan. His appearance in these films marked his debut in Nepali cinema and brought him early public recognition through extensive media coverage.[1][2]
He is the son of actor and filmmaker Biraj Bhatta, who also directed 12 Gaun. Samir Bhatta later appeared in the Nepali action film Balidan, released in 2025, further establishing his presence in the Nepali film industry.[3]

Career
Samir Bhatta started working in Nepali films in 2024 with 12 Gaun. This movie was his first time doing a lead role in a Nepali film. The film was directed by Biraj Bhatta. Cast had actors from Nepal and also from India. 12 Gaun released around Dashain time. After theatre show finished, the film later came to OTT platform Cinemaghar.[4]
After this movie, Samir Bhatta also worked in another Nepali film called Balidan. His role in the film was known after the official trailer came out. In Balidan, he is seen in a main character role. The film was released in 2025.[3]
Till now, most media writing about Samir Bhatta is mainly about these films only. His name is still linked with his early film work. No other film project has been officially announced till now.[4]

Personal life
Samir Bhatta was born in Kathmandu, Nepal. In some interviews he has said that when he was still very young, he moved to Mumbai, India. He grew up there and did his studies in Mumbai. While staying there, he slowly learned filmmaking and spent many years around film people and film environment, before later coming back to Nepal to work in Nepali cinema.[5]
He is the son of actor and filmmaker Biraj Bhatta and Sarswati Bhatta. Samir also has one younger brother. Other than this, not much detail about his personal life is openly available. Most of the information about him seen in media is still mostly connected with his film work, and he has kept his personal side quite private.[2]
