Overview

The Digital Voice of Nepal presents the life and work of Roshan Shrestha, a Nepali journalist, editor, and digital entrepreneur known for advancing grassroots journalism and digital literacy in Nepal.[3][4]

It discusses how technology, transparency, and civic participation can empower citizens and reshape Nepal’s information landscape.[6]

Synopsis

Raised in a farming family in Bahrabise, Shrestha had little exposure to media or formal education. After the 2015 Nepal earthquake, he began documenting local stories with a mobile phone—his first step into citizen journalism.[7]

His work later expanded into Khoj Samachar, an independent digital news outlet. In 2025, he founded WikiNP, Nepal’s first open digital encyclopedia, and introduced the Roshan Shrestha App, a civic-tech platform for visa verification and verified public data.[8]

The book situates his journey within Nepal’s broader digital shift, portraying young journalists working for integrity and open information.[9]
